If this is a requirement of the battery than the battery software should cause a drain.

Li-ion batteries will last longer if they are not charged a 100% and not drained to zero. For example keeping them between 80% and 20% charge. The software should have an option to prolong battery life and making the max charge 80% and max discharge 20%.
This will double the life of the batteries.Danielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03188833509564648560noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13386945.post-77914561623201629572010-12-16T08:04:22.582+02:002010-12-16T08:04:22.582+02:00Check my link on fsync, that will fix your problem...Check my link on fsync, that will fix your problem for all programs.D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03544666801731533511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13386945.post-92028521007376739172010-12-16T08:03:29.981+02:002010-12-16T08:03:29.981+02:00This comment has been removed by the author.D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03544666801731533511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13386945.post-12097445248468833202010-12-15T16:34:55.907+02:002010-12-15T16:34:55.907+02:00Why everybody forgets about HDD??
I have used an ...Why everybody forgets about HDD??

I have used an Apple laptop for two week under Ubuntu 09.04 and the two most striking findings were: HDD runs hot, battery life is (bit less than) 2 hours instead of (bit more than) 4 hours.

After manually removing the redundant pieces of software I was managing to get HDD to sleep sometimes and was able to squeeze about 3 hours out of the single battery charge.

All over the net, people seem mistakenly forget and underrate that under Linux one of the major battery hogs is actually HDD. Under Mac OS X it remains cool and barely every spinning - while under Linux it runs hot and never sleeps: something always writes something to disk.

P.S. I were using "pidstat -d" to analyze the issue.Ihar Filipauhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05086565400407007423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13386945.post-86548902905481482812010-12-13T06:58:30.573+02:002010-12-13T06:58:30.573+02:00> The most common problems related to suspend s...> The most common problems related to suspend seen in Ubuntu are related to the backlight or LCD staying on or the graphics chip getting wedged.

There is more noticeable problem: then notebook can't resume after suspend.
For example, in 2.6.35 kernel branch and later branches detected regression with many notebooks, primary Samsung Nxxx series: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21952Юрий Чудновскийhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13993625843248826527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13386945.post-65517302912557913262010-12-13T04:44:48.037+02:002010-12-13T04:44:48.037+02:00To make things complicated, Li ion batteries last ...To make things complicated, Li ion batteries last much longer if they are kept partially charged rather than fully.
